  • Kip, I remember you as a cowboy. Am I thinking straight? You have definitely gotten more sophisticated! Love it! We were the #1 Allstate Insurance Agency for Kansas in 2006. We sold it in 2007. My husband has his 6 and 63, but no where to park his license. We're not certain we want to do all the CE, etc. Anyway, helping people is a good things. God bless you, brother. Glenda Sue
  • Who are you, remind me...
  • Congrats on the marriage, good for you & I wish you both all happiness...
Once upon a time, when we went to Ouray for the rodeo, you asked me to taste the huge pot of coffee and see if it was done. I tasted it and said it was ok. You then said, "I don't know why I asked you, if I gave you a handful of beans & some warm water you would be happy." The thought continues to fester... but everywhere I have worked in the last 28 years has experienced better coffee before I left!
    Love to you both,
    Nancy
  • Ahhh! The Nectar of The Gods!
It brought back memories of you and your HUGE cup!
Thanks for the thought and for keeping in touch.
  • Hi Kip,
read this, thought of you, Gunnison, and good times!!!

    In Praise of Joe
    by Marge Piercy

    I love you hot
I love you iced and in a pinch
I will even consume you tepid.

Dark brown as wet bark of an apple tree,
dark as the waters flowing out of a spooky swamp
rich with tannin and smelling of thick life—

but you have your own scent that even
rising as steam kicks my brain into gear.
I drink you rancid out of vending machines,

I drink you at coffee bars for $6 a hit,
I drink you dribbling down my chin from a thermos
in cars, in stadiums, on the moonwashed beach.

Mornings you go off in my mouth like an electric
siren, radiating to my fingertips and toes.
You rattle my spine and buzz in my brain.

Whether latte, cappuccino, black or Greek
you keep me cooking, you keep me on line.
Without you, I would never get out of bed

but spend my life pressing the snooze
button. I would creep through wan days
in the form of a large shiny slug.

You waken in me the gift of speech when I
am dumb as a rock buried in damp earth.
It is you who make me human every dawn.
All my books are written with your ink.

  • Thanks so much for your kind remarks. You are one beautifull human being Kip. I think if you're not a man in whom there is "no gile" then... very very little.
You were so helpful when Charlene and I got to LA. Charlene is doing great by the way remarried to the kind of person I knew she would find. She's writing a book about her experience with 'The Way".
    love and peace

  • Kip, I have an '05 Softail Deluxe I bought in 2005 as a 50th birthday present to myself. When I purchased the new bike, I sold my old one. I had it for 22 yrs. and got more for it than I paid. It sounds like you are doing well. I also have my 3rd German Shepherd which I am training to track for search and rescue. He is 9 1/2 mo. old now and weighs 100 lbs. I just acquired an Arabian and I am excited to start working with her. Leah is in
Columbus and runs her own painting company. She is also a FF/Paramedic. I am a Paramedic with the New Bremen Emergency Squad and still have my window cleaning business.
I guess that about sums it up. I'm thankful you are doing so well.
    Bless,
    Linda Emmons
  • Yes, I have some great memories from CG as well. I haven't been back to see it for about 5 years now, but I have talked to some folks that have and that's how I found out the horses are gone, along with the pens and arena.
    Love you,
    Kip
  • Hi Kip!

Great to hear back from you. You look great too... glad you are doing well. I don't remember Cactus. He must have been after I left. Hard to believe they have no horses there anymore... sad. That barn is so great, I remember so many times out there. I so clearly remember taking turns with Geissler on whose night it was to sleep in the stall waiting for one of the mares to give birth. We just had to catch it all on camera... those were a few sleepless weeks. Then Victory was born out in the open and said hello to everyone... that was special. My time at Gunnison was really one of the greatest times in life. It was very full and very rich and meaningful. I felt like I was able to give a lot and really lived each moment very fully.

    God's best to you!!

    Kellie
  • Hi Kip! Good to see your face. I just logged on this site a few days ago and I'm making the rounds and saying hello to those I remember with fondness. I still miss Vision... remember Vision? I wish I could have adopted that horse. I still miss riding in Colorado too. Peter and Dolores were just here two weeks ago, it was great. Jeremiah is now in San Antonio and so he was here too... Hard to believe I took care of him when he was just 4, and now he is all grown up. Life..... mine has been really interesting. :) All the best to you. Big hug to you.
