About Me

I am now an accountant and professional artist. After I left the Way in April of 1989, I immediately went home to care for my terminally ill mother, who died of cancer in 1991 and is awaiting the return of our Lord and Savior. After finishing classes in Accounting, I was hired by Schottensteins/Value City Department Stores, now Retail Ventures Inc., in Columbus, OH, in 1993. The company also includes DSW and Filene's Basement. I have been in the Finance Dept in several positions, and have discovered I have a knack with computers and systems, which came as a complete surprise to me! After a bout with cancer, I decided to pursue my art instead, since I seemed to have been putting it off for ever. I now am an accountant by day and an artist by night (haha) and care for six cats. If I don't watch out, I will become one of those cat ladies...wait, I already am! My dream upon retirement or earlier is to have a home with several Christian artist like a Way home, work part time and paint full time.

I watch very little tv, but now that I am getting cable again, I will hit HGTV, PBS, Discovery, History Channel, BBC America, Hallmark Channel, AMC, TCM...you get the drift!

Movies I like

My latest favorite is "Miss Potter" about Beatrix Potter, and "Wild Hogs". I loved "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", and awesome movie.

Sports Teams I like

I am NOT a sports fan!!!

hey, Katie, I was just telling one of my kids of our marathon drive to get you back to Ohio in less than 48hours from washington state!! even won a contest on a cruise with that adventure!! life is full and exciting, isn't it? we are doing a breast cancer walk in seattle next sept--60 miles in one weekend--want to see all the strauhal clan again? come on! love, Karen

I thought I sent a note earlier but must have hit the wrong button and lost it. I'm certainly not the most technical. Anyway I said that David does pen and ink and has grown my appreciation for the visual arts and I have developed his for the performance arts, music and drama. (He has a 'deaf ear' and 'two left fee'.) I like photography that really good and colorful, and realistic oils/acrylic, especially portraits. We saw some awesome work in Lahaina Maui HI when we have visited there. They have many studios/exibits/shops there.

Katie, Your art is beautiful! My son's girlfriend works at an SPCA animal shelter and loves cats. They have 4 right now along with my son's big boxer dog. They foster cats that are to young to spay until they can be spayed and adopted. Three of their four cats have been foster cats that THEY have then adopted! Ha Ha. But they live in apartment now and really can't keep any more. I'll have to show Danielle your art work.

Hi, great to know you are doing well. I will go to that web site and check out your art. My husband does pen and ink and has a great appreciation for visual arts. He has helped me appreciate those and I have helped him get an appreciation for the performing arts, music and drama. It's been a wonderful mix. I love really good colorful photograpy and realistic oils especially portraits. Great to be in touch again. God Bless You.

Katie, you read a scripture at my wedding. Do you remember me? I met you in Mississippi. I was a college WOW, but later that year, I married Dave McQuillen who you did not really know. But my name was Chris Caracci. I had long brown hair, a big nose, loud laugh and average build. I remember that you were very short. Anyway, it has been a while. Try to think. I went WOW to Roanoke, Va. in 1975 /'76, Bonnie went to Des Moines, Iowa met a guy, fell for him & I was an "afterthought". I went to the Blue Ridge Mts. to pray in June of "75, I had decided to go out WOW II the following year, 1976/'77 & in Bonnie's "dear John" letter to me she said she was going to go out WOW II also,. I asked God that day @ the top of the Mt.to put me w/ her, in the same family & GUESS WHAT!! We both got sent to Shreveport, La., YES!! in the same family. She's still a wonderful lady & is still lovin' the Lord, we never got married.. Love Ya!
