John Catlin replied to John Richeson's discussion In Memory of Skip Mesquite
"The only comfort we have in all of this is that Jesus Christ will return. My deepest condolences go out to his family. I knew Matt & Tiffany personally from Teen Summer School back in the late 80s. I remember going to a Takit-In and seeing them…"

"Hey there Steve-O. I like the sports teams you have listed! Yes, you're spoiled living in the Boston area. I'm stuck here in Baytown where the Astros are fairly mediocre, the Rockets make things interesting, but don't get too far, and the Texans . .…"

"And if you're into cool mascots, here's one you should check out: Wally, the Green Monster. He rocks. Therefore, logically, you should root for the Boston Red Sox."

John Catlin left a comment for Jerry and Margie McSherry
"I grew up in L.A., but my favorite player growing up was Jim Rice. Then, because we had a couple of PFAL grads playing for New England it became easy to root for them (and it was finally rewarded in 2001!). I was never too much into hockey though.…"

"Atlanta Braves? Not crazy about them either. Actually, I should modify my favorite teams a bit. First, of course, are the Red Sox. Running a close second for my favorite baseball team is anyone playing the Yankees on any given day."

John Catlin left a comment for John Richeson
"John,
Thanks for the warm welcome! Though I'm not sure how many people graduated from the Corps before I was born. I was born in 1970!

It was great to see your name. I distinctly remember a page and a half paper you wrote about your experience as a…"

  • John, I have a surprise for you coming next week in the mail, man. Look for it.
  • Hi John and God bless you. Yes I remember you. When Glen told me about this Web site I was so excited that I wrote about graduating from Way Corps 24th when I should have said Way Corps 22nd. Yes John, I remember the advanced Class at Emporia Campus.
    Have a great day.

  • John,
Were you and your parents in Port Hueneme, (Oxnard,CA) running a fellowship in the early 80's? I used to come over to fellowship at your house. I was living with a believer in Oxnard named Dan McAuliffe, we both worked construction together.
If your that John Catlin, Please tell your Mom & Dad I say Hi. They were such a blessing to my life then.
I'm sure their still just as loving and kind.
Bless you Bro. I see you know my WOW brother Chris Lasen, we were WOW's in Hawaii together. HE LEFT and I AM STILL HERE, moving the Word and Love people with the Word.
Blessing to you and your family, your bro in Christ

  • Hi I was just looking around and I liked your sports team. check out mine
  • got to love them RED SOX

    CW
  • Let me see.... hmmm. are you a red sox fan?
  • I have a tee shirt, real classy on the front, tomahawk and Braves logo, on the back, there is a sepia pic of Smoltz, Avery, Glavin and Mattox, and the best I mean the best catch I ever witnessed was Otis Nixon, he was haulin butt to the wall, he jumped, and his glove went over the wall and ting, batta, batta, ting, he caught it.

I have loved this team most of my life. 1966 when they went to Atl from Milwaulkee, I had my transistor radio and listened to every game my parents would let me.

Got to meet Henry Aaron too. This is cool. I got a part time job working at the stadium and I worked with Sam and Susan Bailey in Aisle 119 the customer service booth, I said what else do you do here Susan? I am Mr. Aaron's secretary this was 1989 (worst year for the Bravos), I said I would like to meet him, so I said, when, she says, he's up in his office now. There is one way to get to those offices and she told me and I ran. I got up there and I hear muttering, I found Henry Aaron at a fax machine cussing under his breath, I looked at him, he was huge. Huge! Biggest hands I ever saw. He looks at me and says can you run a fax machine. I says yes sir, and he goes here you do it. I says where is the number it's going to, and he gave it to me, I says, where is the country code, he goes what? The country code for Canada. He goes oh Susan mentioned that. So we get it, get it faxed and he was happy. He asked me who I was, how I found the offices and gave me a hearty thank you. I stared, he goes wha? I says, may I please have an autographed baseball, and I got one, and a hug.

I gave the ball to my sister in law, she is a bigger fan than me and she grew up in the neighorhood he did, so I thought it was as it should be.

So are fun to talk to.

    Janis
  • Hey John,
Thanks for writing back. I was pulling your leg. You like whatever team you want to, but remember this, I said it here first, The Atlanta Braves will be back in a World Series within the next five years. They just needed a pitching staff.
