  Here is a quick response to your comment. I was deeply touched by the words you shared. Hardly a day goes by when I don't think about the concept of the branded bondslave or doulos. So often I think in terms of metaphors, and that particular designation I have taken as my personal self-portait. The article you referred was published in 1975, based a life-changing teaching by Dr. Wierwille where I first heard the term doulos. I examined the word as part of my Master's thesis and my Ph.D. dissertation. Far beyond just the study of the word, I have endeavored to make it a practical reality as a lifestyle of voluntary servitude for Jesus Christ, my Lord. The essence of what I am trying to say I attempt to relate in one of the poems I've written. I trust it will be a blessing to you, as your words were for me.

  Phrase, image or mind picture to bring claity,

  As I endeavor to learn and live to impart

  Weren't you in Oxnard, CA before you left for the Corps? Didn't we bust up an asphalt driveway and prep for and pour a concrete driveway in it's place? I was the punk kid in the Navy, that took PFAL at the home of the Military WOWS; Harvey Henning, Rick Skorupski, and Dave Hale during the spring of 1977...you may not remember but I do...you were very kind to me...in spite of my cocky attitude...much love and blessings, dude!

  Owens 101 dude, remember that? Nice to see you here Joe. I remember getting in trouble with the Divine Design girl because instead of waiting in line "like everybody else", I had you cut my hair instead. And you did a nice job too. Yeah, a gal named Dawn was not too happy about the fact that you cut my hair "on the side". Whatever.
  
  And so, glad to see that you are doing well. Horses huh? My wife is a "horse gal" as I call 'em, but she is into the quarter horse thing. Well hell, after all she was a barrel racer in Oklahoma when she was in her teens and early twenties, and so of course she is a quarter horse fan. I'll tell ya though, one time on her uncles fabulous 79,000 acre ranch while doing a cow round up with her cousins, I took the horse that I was riding and opened him up at a dead gallop just to see if what they say about the quarter horse's sprinting capabilities were true, and damn man! Me and that hoss were flat out burning it up across that lone prairie! The excellration was in fact awesome.
  
  Of course though, as it would turn out, her three cousins were on top of a mesa watching me "galloping off to nowhere", wondering just "what in the hell is that Yankee cousin in law of ours up to"? Later I simply told them that I wanted to feel the power of a quarter horse at full gallop, and this they seemed to respect...
