"Jimmy, thanks for the reminder! What a quality Pressed Down had, and how much they influenced the movement of the Word in those early years. At 17 years of age, I can still see them coming on stage in as I sat with rapt attention in center of the…"
For some reason, I’ve been thinking about this album and the song “All the little children”. I don’t recall what I did with the album, sure wish I still had it. The Way had some awesome musicians.
Just this last year I was visiting my mother in the hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. Feeling a need to get out of the hospital fora while and feeling a little nostalgic, I drove down to the area around Lily
Flag and where the old Omelette Shop was one time located. Then I drove past the apartments where you
once lived, and where I met you. Later,
after you had attended fellowship and became more interested in the things of
God, you invited me to be a roommate. I believe you were working at SCI (?) and
going to Jr. college. You were very kind
towards me.
Later, if I recall properly, your Dad, who had
become involved in PFAL, invited you to come back home to live, and somehow,
through your Dad’s love and gracious heart, and your consent also, I found
myself living there also. I will forever
remember your Dad and Mom. I remember
that at least once I got up and ran with your Dad….that was like a major
miracle for me…for I had worked evenings and graveyard shifts so long, it was
very challenging for me to wake up very early at all. I sure loved you my brother and I sure loved
your Dad. Your Mom was very gracious
towards me, though I probably got on her nerves at times. She sure took great
joy in feeding us guys…I felt so privileged to sit with you, and your Dad and
Mom, and to fellowship together around your Mom’s excellent meals.
If I remember correctly, I think we had fellowship in your Dad and Mom’s back yard once, and my Dad and Mom drove up from Oneonta for that….andI think also that Mike got a little carried away and taught about a two hour
marathon.?! Regardless, it was a joy to
know your Dad and Mom.
My Dad has been awaiting the return of our Lord since 1998.It broke my heart and it was tough working through a few of the
following years, but I do so truly and joyfully anticipate his being raised and
joining with the saints in the air on that grand and glorious day when we see
our Savior face to face!!! Mom lives in
Guntersville. She survived her injuries
to her pelvis, and then her breaking of her hip. She has now begun walking again fairly well
for turning 80, January 31, 2011. She still lives alone, and prefers it that
way as long as she can. I was just with
her for Christmas.
Is either or both of your Dad and Mom still living, or is either or both awaiting the return of our Lord Jesus Christ?
I recall, over the years, at least once or twice endeavoring to call Jimmy Jackson listings in theHuntsville phone directory. Also have been looking on The Way Corps site
and Facebook for you……just wanting to know your state. I am very sorry we lost contact over the
years. I would love to hear about your
life…wife? children? career? Dam and Mom? etc.?
I pray all is well with you and that maybe some day we can talk on the phone or meet up for lunchor dinner the next time I am through Huntsville,
Alabama. The invitation is open to you to visit if you are anywhere near Woodstock,
Ga.
