One year ago today, the worst Ice Storm Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas has ever experienced arrived and left a 40 mile wide devastation that took months to clean up.
Countless thousands were left without electric power for weeks on end and many were caught unprepared without heat, food or water for days.
The Communities pulled together, and there were many reports of neighbors assisting one another. A spirit of cooperation seemed to ignite a warm fire of a caring attitude, as complete strangers were helping one another to get by through the storm.
I realized that even in the midst of such devastation and despair, brotherly love was alive and well!
For the past few days the local weather reports have been prediciting another ice event to hit the area, and with the memories of what transpired just one year ago fresh in their minds, people have made sure to make the proper preparations. Wood Burning Stoves have been installed and the fire wood stacked, pantries have been stocked, ample drinking water is on hand, gas tanks have been topped off, and those who heat with propane have made sure the tanks are filled.
The local communities have cordinated efforts to ensure local and state agencies are on the same page. Volunteer organizations along with the Red Cross and The Salvation Army have been preparing places for the homeless and those who need emergency food and shelter.
This time we are ready for even "Ice-Mageddon" or "Ice-Pocalypse!"
Tonight we wait. As my wife and I sit in our living room enjoying the heat from the wood burning stove, we can begin to hear the ice pelting against the windows as it begins to accumlate on the tress and ground. There is nothing else to do but wait it out.
But wait there is something else left to do!
We can pray. . .for those who may be alone and stranded on a highway. . . or someone who may need emergency medical attention. . .pray for the elderly. . .some of which may be alone. . .pray for any and all who may be experiencing hardships throughout the world. . .because when we pray, I believe the Creator hears us and cares for us.
. . .Will you join us tonight and pray?

The wind whips through downtown Boston on a good day and freezes squirrels in their tracks. I think the city is in this little basin that is sort of like a wind whirlpool... just cold, cold, cold. Government Center is the worst. That's really not a pun! ;)
I am glad it's not as bad as last year in Arkansas. ohmygosh... The photos are beautiful though.
Great chatting with you guys the other day! Yes, let's do it again!
Today in our neck of the woods, the "gods" have been gracious thus far, as we have only received about a half inch of powdery snow with very little wind blowing it around. However, the weather Guru's are calling for more "Ice and sleet" to come. Hopefully they will be incorrect with their anaysis as they smetimes are.
Then again their predictions may be correct but the prayers are being more effective than the forecast.
Nevertheless, to the One True God be the Glory!
P.S. I enjoyed our chat the other day and would like to do it again.
