On the Road Again!

Guess what?! We’re moving house again!Just think, before the end of February, 2010, I shall have packed up the kitchen, the lounge, the bedroom and the bathroom and transported all our stuff to our new home! Hey, moving house is supposed to be high up on the list of stressful happenings, but it’s almost as routine to me as cleaning my teeth.I’ve counted all the dwellings of my youthful existence (come, on, give me a break, I’m not quite “grown-up” yet!) So anyway, I lay before you all a challenge...Has anyone lived in more dwellings than I? I think it’s only fair to point out that my parents weren't missionaries and I'm not in the “military”, just a plain civilian with itchy feet (although the itch has nearly worn away). The longest I have lived in one place is 3 years.Can you beat that record?!!!

For those of you that are interested in the story behind the DC3... That plane/truck was very cool. Mr Kroll told us this particular DC3 was originally used in support of the D-Day landings at Normandy... from there it found it's way to Africa, then through Asia before crashing somewhere in the Kimberly in the early 50s. A couple of airforce lads took up the task of dragging the fuselage out of the rainforest and converted it into a truck, and for the last 50 years it's been driving around Australia. so it's spent more time on the roads than it every did in the air, and more than 99% of cars will ever spend on the road... Remarkable.

Oh, it's a deep, thumping old diesel engine that sounds like something from WWII itself... and the turning circle is terrible. While helping Sarah move we clipped a give way sign while trying to go over a round about (yes, you read that correctly). It added some character to the day and made it a lot of fun...

Oh, and to get into the thing, you've got to crouch down and climb in through a low hatch on the otherside. The cockpit is original, with just a couple of metal pedals, a steering wheel and a speedo added. Everything else, including the seats, is circa 1944....

WOW. People think I move a lot but now I realize I've been pretty stationary. Now I still have this question, tickling around in my head, because a year is barely time to get half the boxes unpacked and you're off again -- Why? What inspires you to pack up and do it again? Not to be nosey, so don't answer if that's a dumb question. But I'd think you'd like some of those houses pretty well, and moving is hard work no matter how good you are at it.

Cool vid of Brisbane, Sarah! Many blessings on your new house. My list was similar to yours years ago until I complained to God... now I've been in Boston since '82... We did it in style this time - with an airplane truck to pull the trailer (remodelling designer - Mr Kroll - wearing the cap)... And in on a hot, humid day - high in the 80's (Fahrenheit).

Do you need me and my truck to help you move? All I ask is that you cover my expenses to get me and my truck to Aussie land. (Return trip requested) Other than that, I can pay for my own meals and even treat you and the boys to a burger and fries. I will watch my email for the tickets...1ST CLASS PLEASE! My truck doesn't do well in coach.

I never added them up before. I thought I moved a lot over the years. But, it's clear I'm a slacker. When I added mine up it only came to 21!
