BLOGS

Blog or Article?

Blogs often focus on personal opinion, experiences, views, anecdotes or advice. Blogs tend to have a relaxed and conversational feel, such as in storytelling and are generally 300-500 words.

Articles aim to deliver well-researched, informative content with solid evidence to back up the points made.  Articles are usually more formal, organized and frequently range 500-1000 words.

May 20th, 2010 is 25 years since Dr. Wierwille fell asleep. I still miss him, and am thankful for his
life and what he meant to me. He loved and believed in me and accepted me when no one else did.

He taught me to love and respect God, Jesus Christ, my parents, my country, fellow believers, and fellow men and women. Above all, he taught me to read the Bible and walk on it, realizing Jesus Christ was the only one who walked perfectly.

Dr. had as many flaws as the rest of us; after all he was human and needed a savior, too. I had the honor of him yelling at me once--but he had a way of making me feel good about it. Wasn't that "tough love"?

He also made me laugh, cry, and feel the joy of living. At a time when I was so hardened I couldn't feel any emotion whatsoever, his teaching and love reached down and cracked through the rock and made me able to feel once again.

I still appreciate the "Family of God" he tried to get us to be a part of and live in. He got us to work together, play together, laugh together, cry together, and boy oh boy did we EAT together!! I am abundantly thankful for all of those--many of YOU here on this site--who helped me along the way. I know you because of him!

My life is infinitely better because of Dr. Wierwille. His ministry reached me when no one else's did.

If anyone would like to share an incident or story where Dr. Wierwille helped or enhanced your life, please feel free to post it here. I'd appreciate it, and others might, too!

  • A lot of water has run under the bridge since that year...many of us moved away from TWI but retained our desire and fire to know, trust and believe God. I, like most of you, credit VPW with teaching me so very much about life, God, His Word, and Godliness....plus how to appreciate life. Every person has their faults, but we would do well to embrace the good and godliness in each person we meet, and remember Will Roger's approach in "never meeting a man we didn't like". Give people the opportunity to do well...Those of us who met him knew him and worked with him recall how he often looked into our hearts to see who we were inside, and who we were capable of becoming, rather than the person we had been or were currently...I'm glad people believe that I would turn out to be something better than I was back in 1977...
  • I don't know that I would be dead... but I'd certainly be lost.. there isn't a day goes by that I don't utilize a scripture or 12. that I was taught because of Dr W. I had just about given up on the Bible and God but in PFAL he laid it out where it began to make sense and I began to trust what the Bible said and began to believe that God could be counted on..jim
  • Good point, David... In addition to teaching, something Dr. was really good at was bringing people together. We all had as many faults back then as we do now, but he seemed to overlook them and loved us anyway.

I am very blessed to have met so many wonderful believers around the world. God is good!
  • Great post Ted!
I am listening to some great music right now in my collection, and read this.
And I got to thinking (that's dangerous for me to think, I got to stop that) if it wasn't for VPW's vision, I would not be typing this, I would not know Ted Ferrell, nor the creator of this site John Richeson and his wife Hope anf his girls, nor Michael who started this blog, nor Sarah Ghent in Aussie land, or members of Agape, they would not exsist. There would not be a Way Productions, Joyful Noise, Good Seed, Pressed Down and so on. Bob Lanham,(who would he be).
I know we all don't agree here on what we believe now, but we believed the Word of God as we were taught at the time, and that is what has brought us together here on this site...
So I thank God for the way, because I would not have friends all over the world who I can chat/talk to and even visit once in a while...I am so amazed! God Bless you all. DB
  • Dr. Wierwille taught me the Word he knew and under his ministry, the person that witnessed to me and continues to teach me, was also witnessed to. I have eternal life and a knowledge of God's Word because of Dr. Wierwille and his stand on the Word. At best, we are all saved sinners, and he is no different ... but I will always be thankful for his life because of what it meant to me ... and continues to mean as I continue to stand.
  • Michael

  • Oh God I am so thankful for meeting Dr:And ever more better learning the truths Dr. open to so so many of us. A TRULY GREAT MAN
  • In the times our paths cross from Wyoming to Emporia and HQ I could always say that I was awestruck by his presence. I could see through the frailties of the man to recognize that this was the individual whose words of truth were sent to reach this lost soul when all hope was lost. Like so many others I'd be dead and gone if not for the Word of God taught to me.On my 21st birthday I told the Lord that if I could not find the answers in the Book by the time of my 22nd birthday then life was not worth living. As I open my Oxford Bible, I can still see that the first page holds the schedule for some class called Power for Abundant Living. The date of the session 12 reads May 7th 1981. I remember celebrating for a while after the class then driving home as the clock struck 12 midnight. The words of the year before echo through the now filled halls of my mind as I realized that it was now May 8th, my birthday. I wept as I went to bed, thinking of the sovereign of our God and just how awesome He truly is. Than you Dr. Wierwille. May your good works go before you to the throne.

BTW, I laugh here as I was driving home from work this May 20th, Is awa license plate in front of me that first four letters were PFAL.. Our God has a sense of humor, and yet He still wants to keep those landmarks in our remembrance. Praise God.

Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

    Shalom, David
  • ...Now I remember, the monday following the courtyard performance we went into the twig sound studio and recorded every song we knew. Then we recorded the Agape alblum, did the rock and wow training and then went back to England.
  • Dr. Wierwille had a vision to move God's Word that should inspire us to move with what God is working in us right now. We don't need to wait or wish for someone's approval. I'm not talking about comparing ourselves to any one in the one body of Christ or inflating our ego. God needs us more than ever to share His Word. Dr. Wierwille just moved with what God was working in him. I've never seen a man get off a bus with such love and a smile in his heart that could bring tears to my eyes. The 1st. time I saw him I was 15 and at the Rock of Ages. I didn't even know anything about his ministry. (I hadn't taken PFAL). It was the Word of God he taught that awakened my life and thousands of others out of darkness. It's still the same Word that so many men and women of God have taught for decades since. People are waiting and in want of spiritual deliverance. Dr. Wierwille thought of so many ways to get the body of Christ involved to see their individual part of living and serving the Word. Music was a great example. Let us be renewed to look at God's Word and be reinspired to walk with the Lord and live His Word greater than we ever have in our lives! I am very greatful for all of you who stand for God and His amazing Word.
