I have found it true practically--that the holy spirit in me helps me recognize what habits, attitudes are not pleasing to the Lord. Then I repent (change my mind) to what the Word says and ask for forgiveness and declare that attitude or habit dead, crucified with Jesus on the cross. I love IS 61 where it talks about instead of their shame, my people will receive a double portion and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance. I give my shame and disgrace to God, and I get double portions of blessings and my inheritance. I like the exchange rate on that one!
I have gone from feeling so dead, empty and drained on the inside to someone who finally REALLY knows what it's like to have joy. I used to try to convince myself that I had joy, but had no idea what I was missing.
Machine gunning verses through my head never helped me deal with any of the issues I had. It only buried things and helped me develop walls where I couldn't truly walk by the Spirit. I have learned it is much more powerful to PRAY different scriptures in a situation instead of chanting them over and over.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
