Uncle Harry had such a wonderful laugh. He was heavy, but muscular and always liked my strong fingers digging into his should muscles! He was friendly and pure-hearted. I still have a beautiful 1800's china cabinet he gave me from the barn. What a blessing that barn was! Full of great furniture. I wrote a wonderful poem about him that was calligraphied and on "Uncle Harry Day" they'd put on a pedistal as you entered the big building across from the auditorium (forget the name). I have lost the poem, but it was a great one! xox GS
When I came back from TFI ( the early LEAD program) I had frostbite in my right big toe. It was painful and the toe looked awful but God was going to heal me, by golly. I was convinced of that. I had to go to the EOE for something, Uncle Harry was upstairs, saw me limping and asked what was wrong with me. I told him. He told me to go outside, take my boots off and walk barefoot in the snow. I left and I was walking outside I started thinking. Walk barefoot in the snow? I have frostbite! And why would I take both boots off, I only have frostbite on one foot? Pffft! "
And then God brought the record of Naaman the leper back to my remembrance.
II Kings 5: 10-12 "And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’ “Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?”
So I took off both of my boots and walked barefoot in the snow. My toe was healed. I could feel the warming, tingling sensation as the healing took place. Praise God, my toe was healed!
