  • Well Robert I hope you remember me, but if you don’t it doesn’t change the impact you had on me. I want to take this opportunity to tell you thank you. You changed my life the first months in-residence and like most great moments we never realize their impact. I was quite aware of the impact you made on me and it has just grown in truth and depth since then.

One day I was walking toward you in front of Kenyon (this is all so clear to me) and you stopped me and said "Patty, every opportunity you have to utilize your long suits do it and the weaker areas will be strengthened". Then you walked away.

When I went in-residence I was 19 and as I recall the average age of our Corps was like 28, and I had only been involved in the ministry for 2 years where there were many in our Corps who had gone WOW a few times, worked with this leader and did this and that and I was feeling more and more inadequate and I was comparing myself and thinking I had nothing to offer anyone there...

Then you came along with this bit of insight and my long list of things to work on that I was dragging around with me fell to the ground right there in front of Kenyon...the mental list was gladly erased and at that sad state of mind all I could think of that I was good at was smiling...yup, smiling...that's all I had and so I smiled and said hi to everyone and then next thing I knew I saw something else I was good at so I did that and smiled and on goes my life...I still smile and now a bunch of other things.

I just want to thank you for walking with my God that day. Only God knew about the list I had and He knew it was breaking my heart I had nothing to give, and he worked within you...thank you for not walking by me that day. 30 years later I carry it in my heart like it happen yesterday. It still sets me free, and it has set many many many other people free through the years because it is my story. My kids live by that truth too...and I am sure yours do too.

I love this sight so that I can finally thank people like you for loving God and how it benefited me.

You have always held a precious place in my heart.
    Thanks Robert.
    Patty
  • Hey Robert...great to know you are alive and kicking!
Just flew in from Denver last night...was there since Monday on business. Will be going back next month for a couple of days...would you be up for lunch/dinner ....that is if you are any where near Denver?

  • Me too :) God's a bit broader than we'd imagined; seems He's working anywhere someone allows Him to or hears & follows.
  • ps: For a movie about people walking with God and it making a difference in the secular realm, try "Something the Lord Made".
  • Hey!! Good to hear from you!! I tried to email y'all a couple times in the past couple years - don't think it ever made it through but here we have nice access to so many people. I know you have 1000 kids, I mean 5, --is there a difference? (They're beautiful!)Sorta cool to see you two do exactly what you wanted - big family.
And you both look just the same - thanks for the great annual photo of your gang. The only other thing I should say is I see you know my great friend Rick Roy! I found him again after 20 years right here, very nice to reunite with so many.
    Tell Monique I said hello!!

  • Hi Robert. God bless you and it's great to see you here
  • Let's see, how bout this, my fiancee Ron Johnson lived about five miles from you and did the home school evalutations for your children, does that ring a bell.

Monique has his email address. Feel free to say hey anytime.

Ron is doing very well since I got here. We take care of each other and I love Lassen and Ozzie like they were my own kids. Kids with ears and pee on bushes kids, but my boys none the less. He is very happy! He thinks so fondly of you guys and misses you dreadfully.

    Love,
    Janis
  • Go Broncos!

I have quite a few friends in CO. But someone you know that I know, as she was my first WOW sister, is Marie Loggie.
