About Me
It is 2013 and I thought I should update this since it has been seen for about 6 years.
In 2002 I changed my name back to my birth name. You will now see me as Richard Barton in any emails and on facebook.
I still have more fun than most people. I miss a lot of you. I still speak the Word at every open door though I would not go door to door witnessing unless God was very clear about it.
My life is getting to the point that wisdom is the principle thing, but I still search for it. It seems to elude me.
I have had some close calls throughout my life. But then, I suppose all of us have had a few. I am ready for (as Jeff Stanley says) part B.
I have endured 3 brain surgeries for a benign tumor in my pituitary gland. It was not the best part of my life. But I survived all that in spite of the unbelief around me.
I love to tell people I haven't had a bad day in 38 years. Then, explain that while this is true, I have had some HARD days. Perspective is a good thing to have (and a vocabulary).
I moved to Comfort, Texas in May of 2013. It is a small town about 30 miles northwest of San Antonio. I have a motorcycle and love to ride in the hill country where there is less traffic and lots of great scenery.
The top shelf best part of my life is in the fact that I learned "HOW" to rightly-divide God's Word. This is the biggest thing that distinguished us in the 70's & 80's. It wasn't Athletes or Way Prod or even speaking in tongues. The fire of the Word is still burning for me. It is all I have. Nothing else in this life can touch it. Especially not ego or talent. The Way Corps Poem is still in my blood stream.
My Interests
Still have a passionate interest in the Bible. A little in business and music. But not the music business. .I play guitar and bass and bang chords on the piano.
I've developed a keen interest in gold and the economy (that sure looks like it could collapse). There are a lot of believers who think God will meet our needs even in a collapse. I know this is positive believing and all that. But makes me pause and consider Joseph. What if he had taken that position? Egypt would have been hit just as hard as all the other countries. Of course, God will meet our need. Qhy couldn't buying gold now set us up to have our need met?
Employment or Career
medically-retired I was in sales for about 30 years. Sold radio advertising, computers, janitorial supplies. Loved it but never saw the prosperity possible in the highest paid profession. I used the skills learned in the job to develop my witnessing skills. I've gotten pretty good at the art of witnessing. I am planning to build a huge business with gold. If you haven't seen this video, enjoy it. I spent a few years keeping watch on this company and now I am an affiliate. Gold coins are too volitile since they are owned by the government and we are only the bearer. As a seller you have to pay for the proof of its value. But this company has the highest security in the world for proving the purity of it's product.
Of course, I believe Corps should have Gold and Guns and everyone is invited to contact me with any inquiries.

Books I Like
Rarely read much of anything but the Bible. My eyes are going dim so I don't have a desire for anything but the Bible now. But when I did, Tom Clancey was my favorite, mostly now, I read the Bible and thats about it. Can't say I'm very cultured.
Television I like
I am mainly interested in movies. Bones is a good show. That is about it. I am starting my own movie collection. I figure I only need about 80-100. I would rather watch movies than television. Too many commercials and cable is a waste of time and money for me.
Movies I like
I would rather watch 20 yr old movies than the new stuff Hollywood markets. I enjoy almost all kinds except thrasher and stupid ones like Pulp Fiction and the Divinci Code. Guess you could say I'm very opiniated about such works. Many of Hollywoods works in the past decade have been a huge disappointment. I would rather watch a movie I've seen a dozen times than to watch some of the crap they've produced. I prefer older movies. Hollywood has called crap art for much too long.
Sports Teams I like
Dallas Cowboys,NE Patiots. Rarely have time to keep up with either. I like the Spurs but basketball is not my favorite sport. The season is much too long and they are so good, it is a bit boring to me.

Was good to hear from you. After reading your "About Me", sounds like God and you have had some terrific victories. Thank you for your kind words and comments on my mom. She certainly was a treasure.
Lovingly,
Sara
No sweat. Since Katrina New Orleans has taken such a beating and most of us are so damn tired of it. That's 2 1/2 years of negative press and the damage is perpetuated because of it.The tourist areas were unaffected by the storm and yet the streets are empty and businesses are closing every day. The crowds are starting to come back but it's too little and too late for many to recover. Some of my friends have used up their personal savings just to cover their costs on their businesses and they've just about run out, some already have.
It's easy to criticize this place but you really have to see what has happened here. It's so sad to see home after home and business after busness in ruins. And we can't forget that 2000 people lost their lives due to this. Recovery is slower in the areas where the water was deeper but many areas are back. The destruction is on such a large scale that it really is unfathomable. However, the choice for those of us remaining is to look ahead, move forward and focus on the positive. Everything that's been restored is more beautiful than it was before and the city never looked better.
If I can effect change on a small scale then I know it will have positive consequences. "One man up with dawn in his eyes multiplies."
May you have a wonderful day Ric, see you next week. Tommy
First of all over San Diego lost 2000 homes with the latest fire, New Orleans lost 200,000. The city population is 250,000 less than it was before the storm.
1) If the water is so bad here why are folks only drinking bottled water everywhere? Attached is the Current Water Quality Report from the Water Board. I'm drinking some as we speak. http://www.swbno.org/wq2006rptinframe.html
2) Since Katrina we've abolished the old Orleans Parish School board and Charter Schools are leading the way with local universities providing assistance and direction. It's not great but we're working on it. We led the country in one of the first arts magnet high schools in the country. http://www.nocca.com/index.php Your comment on this sounds pretty damn racist to me.
3) I have several friends who are N.O. cops, one of them is the commander of the SWAT team, and none of them worked for the LAPD. They all do an excellent job.
4) Edwin Edwards is in jail. We are reforming our ethics laws, and seeing that we just elected Republican Bobby Jindal as Governor the state voters are taking the state in a new direction. We've elected a new city counsel since Katrina, got rid of the D.A. and FBI agents Jim Letton and Jim Bernazzani are cleaning up political offices every single day.
5) The top 5 traffic cities are 1. Los Angeles, Long Beach, Santa Ana, Calif. 2. San Francisco, Oakland, Calif. 3. Washington, D.C. 4. Atlanta 5. Houston.
6) Since the city roads follow the "winding" river and other water ways it's hard to determine compass directions. The West Bank is west if you're standing in the right place, but it's actually south of the city, however most of my freinds know the path the sun follows and we can pretty much tell where we are.
7) Ric, honestly, I can't even comment on this one. My black friends wouldn't like this comment too much and I'd help them chase you out of town.
8) Since we've lost 250,000 residents, most of them being at the poverty line, New Orleans-
Metairie-Kenner, La., recorded the largest unemployment rate decrease in the U.S. from
a year earlier (-1.2 percentage points). http://www.bls.gov/news.release/metro.nr0.htm
9) I agree with you on this one, but it's not just a problem here. We pay some of the highest insurance rates in the country, as do all coastal cities. On my Katrina claim my settlement was just about 1/2 of my home's value, which was more than enough to repair the damage. We're being ripped off by the insurance industry nationwide. Insurance is fine if you don't need it.
10) What?
Okay, lastly, go to my page and read the box on New Orleans comments. Have a blessed day.
Anyway take care and stay in touch
