  • Thank you everyone for all your prayers.
This story is a crazy one of God's deliverance. Last monday when I got the call from my sister I text everyone I could and called even more and e-mailed even more people to pray. My sister Martie did the same. Roberto Martinez forwarded my e-mail all over the world and within a short time we had rallied many many to pray. Many of you prayed with your fellowships as well as your private prayers.
In the meantime my brother-in-law, Sam was rushed to the hospital with an excrutiating headache that when they had done a lumbar puncture and found blood in his spinal fluid, concluded that he had had a stroke and moved him to another hospital. When he arrived at St. Josephs hospital, the second hospital, the neurologist said he had already made rounds and would see him tomorrow.
We waited until Tuesday to find out how he was. By tuesday they discovered that the fluid around his brain was seeping out into his spine. They also discovered that he had viral meningitis. He hadn't had a stroke at all. When they did an MRI they discovered that the fluid was seeping from the place that the other hospital had done the lumbar puncture and that during the first 24 hours he had not been seen, all the fluid had drained from around his brain. Everytime he moved his brain was hitting against his skull. They did a blood patch to fix it. When they told him that all the fluid had drained out, they also told him that his brain had swollen and that it had been drawn down into where the brain stem is. It was beginning to cut off the blood flow to his brain. He should have died. The only care he was getting during that first 24 hour time period was the prayers that we were saying. God saved him when the doctors were neglecting him.
This is the power of prayer. He is fine now and has no residual effects from the problems. God is good. The anti-viral medication worked for the meningits and the swelling on his brain is gone. The blood patch held to retain the fluids around his brain and the fluids are replenished. God is very good to his people when we trust him and pray.
I had to share this story with you. I think it is a wonderful example of the power of prayer.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
    Love,
    Judy

  • Hello Judy, How are you? This is John Lawrence. do you remember me?
I just found this site today, thanks to John Fair. I see you still live in the Bay Area. I moved from there a few years ago. I am living in Paradise, just outside of Chico. I get to the bay area now and then. In fact I will be in Brentwood next Saturday for a family event. Believe it or not I still have a phone book from years ago that still has your name in it. You are the only one under X. I do see some familiar names on the site. Not many ffrom our corps,a few. I would love to hear from you, maybe we could get together sometime if you would like and say hi! I see Jon Fair now and then. He manges a restaurant in SF that I do business with. that is how I found the site. Any way it was good to see your name again. Sure hope you are well. Keep in touch! John
  • Hi! Judy,
Great to see you on the site. I seem to recall you playing the flute. I have always enjoyed your fellowship every time I have seen you. Looks like you have been very busy. I work full time at a non-profit hospital as the volunteer coordinator. It would be great if you post that LEAD picture of you flopping like a turtle.
  • Sorry everyone that I haven't kept up with this and placed my picture out there and answered some of you sooner.. it gets busy. i've been helping with short term missions teams..one went in January and i'm trying to go at the end of March. And I'm trying to find full time benefited work. I've been contracting for 4 years now...this is my 3rd job ...they end up just keeping and not hiring... Hi Bill and Frank great to hear from you both. Any one have a LEAD picture of me with my huge tall back pack... the one that kept flinging me down to the ground like a flipped turtle until someone moved my sleeping back to my butt area.... I'd reallly like a copy of that picture...someone has it.. i just never got it. God is good.
  • Hi Judy,
I have fond memories of working together at HQ. Glad to see you on this site.
    Take care,
    Bill
