Various titles since being in residence:
Product Manager
Vice President of Technical Services
Sales and Marketing - International Operations
IT Management Consultant
Service Product Manager
Service Portfolio Manager
In General:
I am in "IT Service Management" - how you manage IT as a service provider - serving your company, as a shared service or as a commercial service provider. I work for a (very) large company. I have also served in various capacities within "the industry". ITIL Advisory Group - Steering group that planned, coordinated etc the update to the ITIL set of books to "ITIL V3". I was the mentor to the authors of the Service Strategy book. I also contributed to the other 4 core volumes as a reviewer or IAG Member.
I represent the USA for International Standards related to IT Service Management and IT Governance - standards like ISO IEC 20000 and ISO IEC 38500. (If you want to know what I think of the standards - read CS Lewis "That Hideous Strength" - good description of how evil takes hold.
Music I Like
Queen (Brian May on guitar - excellence)
Rush - Alex Lifeson
I was reminded how much I liked the old Ministry music here - Brian Bliss, Pressed Down, Lisa Lockridge Tracy, Take It, - There was some just really great music produced.
- I play guitar and love Queen, Rush, Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Who, ZZ Top, Pink Floyd - anything with searing guitar leads. I play a PRS through a PD XT and two Tech 21 Power Engine 60's - Nice Stereo Flange, Phase, Echo and Chorus. I like the sound a lot, but its not ultimate yet. When I lived in Holland I had a Marshall and a VOX AC30TB - but they are now just too loud. I like the Alex Lifeson Hughes and Kettner buts its too expensive. The EVH 5150 sounds good but to much hum. The new Blackhearts seem interesting. - Still looking for the ultimate low volume tube amp. The Vox AC30 Brian May does not have a master - its sounds great, but a real ear drum blaster.
Books I Like
All CS Lewis
All Tolkien
All Bullinger - I really appreciate "Things to Come"
All Weirwille
IT Governance - Weill and Ross
MultiSourcing - Gartner
Blink, Tipping Point - Gladwell
All Michael Crichton
The Prime Solution and Mastering the Complex Sale - Thule
All the ITIL books
COBIT
I love CS Lewis. I think I have read everything. Wow - how come I never read his stuff till I was an old guy. His book "That Hideous Strength" describes exactly how the modern world of IT Standards works.
Movies I like
Sci Fi,
Lord of the Rings,
Chronicles of Narnia,
Star Wars,
Star Trek
Alien (all)
Batman (embarrasing to admit isn''t it)
Braveheart, The Patriot,
