Ann, When I shot those pictures in March, the home did look like someone was renovating it...all the shrubs and landscaping had been removed from around the foundation...the boards looked like someone had been scraping them for a re-paint...
It was that magnificent tree that I was so crazy about seeing!!! When I think of all the smoking that had been done under that tree! I went to coffee houses there when I was in high school in New Bern...so like 1973/74...then I moved to Greenville and was in the Women's Way Home with Laine and the gang...we spent all of our time at 2007 Fifth...David Turk was there...Donna Lombardi Martindale...(sigh!) the best of times !!! Well, really I should say it as a great time...
the best of times for me will always be when I became a Mom...I was fascinated by my kids when they were little...and I STILL find them interesting...I love them so much...but now I am fascinated to see what happens to them as they live their lives all in different places...when I do see them it is fun to hear what they have learned about themselves, other people, and life in general.
I see that your daughters are providing you and Mike with what I enjoy about parenthood...a married daughter in India ! a married daughter right there in your neck of the woods...and one daughter that you still have all to yourselves!
That is a lot of variety!
So good to be in touch!
Enjoy your time at the beach!
Much love, Michelle
Ann, I hope that you and Mike will consider jumping on this ship next May and cruise with some old friends! I think it will be fascinating!
Remember how much fun we had at camps and advances? Do you remember how in love with Nelson Coffey I was? He was so dreamy! I was in touch with him and his parents a few years back...have lost touch again! That UNC gang you guys had was so awesome!
I am a Realtor...have done lots of work with new construction (when that was HOT) ...love what your job is...I love to work on home design...I should have been an architect...or some sort of designer...I think kitchen planning is VERY cool...when done well!
I am still in touch on a very regular basis with Robin (Newcomb)Hamilton and her ex- Chris Newcomb. They both live in Maine. Robin is a drug and alcohol abuse counselor...Chris teaches gifted and talented. Their four kids are all very cool. The two oldest are married and each have a child. Time flies!
Didn't Richie Temple live with you too? I was in touch with him for a bit years ago and he would send me his "works" on the Word.
I really want to come to NC and just tour the state and see folks now that I know where they all are...
I did take my Mom to New Bern to see her old house...and to a couple of military bases where she and my Dad were stationed in the past. On the way home I made the route go through Greenville so that I could see the old Way Home...did you see the photos I posted here?
I bet your kids are great...
Please give Mike a big hug and kiss for me...I remembering adoring him! He had such great hair...swooping across his forehead...very seventies !
Gosh there were so many young married couples in NC during those times...amazing that many have remained married too!
Congrats to you guys for keeping your marriage on track!
I was thrilled to know that you got my message and that we are thinking of each other today!
God Bless You and Yours! Life is GREAT !!! God is SO GOOD !!!
Smooches! Michelle
Ann! I hope you remember me from the 70's in NC. Sending love to you and Mike!
Married for 35 years! Didn't you guys get married when you were 12 ? I live in upstate NY...have been married for nearly 26 years to a great man named Nick...and we have three kids...all in their 20's. So great to see your name and be able to send you a love note!
Hi, Ann! I remember you and Mike from our Chapel Hill days together. I've been back living in Morganton since 1985, and will be starting my 22nd year teaching this August. Good to see you on this site.
Ann,
GREAT to hear from you! You and Mike are so dear to us... much love from Cheryl and I.
Brian is halfway through Optometry school, Christina just finished her freshman year and is accepted into Architecture school. They both love God and serve in the body of Christ. Fortunately, in looks they favor their Mother!
We are out here in the desert - which just last week became really hot. We have fond memories of you and are so thankful for your lives.
Please give Mike my regards and thanks for contacting us.
See you at the gathering, if not before.
Much love in Christ,
Rob
